Sketch constraints

Constraints help a sketch keep intended relationships as you edit it. Choose Sketch constraints from the left rail. If no sketch is active, choose one in the sketch picker to enter Sketch Edit. Select geometry in the viewport; the panel shows actions that fit the current selection.

Select the geometry involved, then choose an action in For selected geometry, or click a constraint button and make the requested selection. Relations include coincident, parallel, perpendicular, horizontal, vertical, midpoint, symmetry, tangent, concentric, equal, fixed, angle, and dimension. The available choices depend on the selected geometry. For a dimension, enter a value or named parameter; where offered, choose driving mode to control the sketch or reference mode to show a measurement without controlling it.

To change or remove a saved constraint, select it in the panel and use its available controls. Drag visible sketch points or curve handles to adjust the geometry. The solver applies constraints where possible and reports conflicts or remaining degrees of freedom. Leave Sketch Edit by choosing another tool or returning to Select; changes are committed when you leave the edit session.

For sizes that should be reused across features, create a named parameter and reference it from a dimension input. For basic profile construction, see lines and faces.
