Create a face
Choose Create face (F). Select the curves that form the boundary. You can select them before activating the tool or while its selection prompt is active. The status message indicates whether the selection can form a face. When it is ready, press Enter or leave the tool to create the face. Use Undo to remove it.
Choose a face method
Section titled “Choose a face method”The Method menu offers:
- Automatic — lets VolumeForge choose a compatible construction from the selected boundary.
- Planar — creates a flat face from a closed planar loop.
- Smooth patch — creates a smooth surface patch from a supported closed boundary.
- Ruled — creates a ruled surface from supported boundary or rail curves.
The available methods depend on the selected curves. A loop must be connected and closed. For a planar face, its boundary must lie in one plane. An inner closed loop can define a hole. For other methods, follow the status message for the required curves.
If the status reports an open or disconnected boundary, check that endpoints meet and there are no missing segments. See Draw lines and polygons and Draw curves for building boundaries. Once created, a face can be used by Extrude or Revolve.
